Established in 1925, Greengate Manor And Gardens is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Sanford NC that stands proudly in the heart of the Hawkins Avenue Historic District, a neighborhood once home to Sanford’s early visionaries and a celebrated stop along the original U.S. Route 1. Originally built as a private residence during a time of booming industrial growth, the Manor showcases refined architectural details—featuring elegant touches of Colonial Revival and Queen Anne styles that defined the district’s golden age.

In 2016 we began lovingly restoring the property, transforming it into the one-of-a-kind event venue it is today. Every element of the Manor was thoughtfully renovated—from the foundation to the roofline—blending timeless charm with modern elegance. Inside, guests are greeted by glittering chandeliers, stately crown molding, and colorful accents that reflect the home’s bright future.
Step outside into two beautifully landscaped acres, privately surrounded by greenery that creates a secluded, intimate setting. The lush gardens provide a variety of picturesque backdrops, perfect for ceremonies, cocktail hours, or golden-hour photos.

A signature feature of the property is the beautifully refurbished white brick outdoor fireplace. Originally constructed as a dual hearth, the larger fireplace was used for cooking, while the smaller offered warmth and a place to brew tea—especially helpful in the days before homes had air conditioning. Today, the space has been reimagined with twinkling string lights, flowers and rose bushes, bird feeders, pea gravel patio flooring, and lounge seating. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a quiet moment beneath the stars, slip away for conversation, or share a romantic first dance beside the soft glow of the candlelit fireplace.

Additional signature features include a custom-built white bench nestled between two magic trees, our classic white colonnades (a timeless ceremony backdrop), a wooden swing above a whimsical fairy garden, our romantic iron gazebo, and the iconic iron Greengate that welcomes guests to this storied property. At the heart of the gardens, our 1,500 square foot high-peak pole tent is complete with handcrafted wood flooring and romantic string lighting.
